How to Make the Most of Black Girl Day Off

Top Ways to Celebrate Black Girl Day Off and Recharge

Black Girl Day Off is an annual national holiday that takes place October 11. The day was created to give Black women a mental health day to focus on their well-being. As a recovering corporate baddie, I can attest to how important it is to have a day to relax, relate and release. There are a lot of ways to enjoy the day off. Here are some ideas:

Rest- Sometimes the best luxury you can offer yourself is to do absolutely nothing.

Write It Down- Take some time to reflect and plan your next steps by journaling.

Get Connected- Get together with a friend that you haven’t seen in a while for coffee or lunch.

Buy Black-  If shopping is your therapy, support Black-owned businesses in person or online.

Get Artsy- Engage in creative outlets that bring you joy whether it’s coloring, dancing in the mirror or painting.

Enjoy a Festival- During the weekend of October 11th there are a few festivals that you may enjoy.

Black Travel Summit in Ft. Lauderdale, FL

October 10-13

Gentilly Fest in New Orleans, LA

October 11

Atlanta Wine and Jazz Festival in Atlanta, GA

October 12

Black Joy Parade in Medellín, Colombia

October 13

The point of Black Girls Day Off is to prioritize your mental health and honor yourself so do whatever feels best for you.
