2023 was the first year for Revolt World and it was a great time! I attended two of the three days and in that time had a chance to see Uncle Luke, Juvenile, Moneybagg Yo, DVSN, Jozzy, a DJ set from DJ Holiday & Brian Michael Cox and more. Performers that I missed were Jae Murphy, Maiya the Don (LOVE HER!), King Combs, Babyface Ray and Brian Henry.

What set this event apart from a lot of the other festivals I’ve attended is that it also had a major focus on networking and business advancement. On the app attendees could look for different tracts including creators, entrepreneurship to learn ways to level up their business. The app also had a section dedicated to networking that resembled Tinder where participants could swipe to connect and chat digitally. In addition, there was a career fair, podcast pitch competition and Shoot Your Shot competition for aspiring artists.

Another thing that I’ve seen popping up at festivals recently are live tapings of podcasts and Revolt has some of the hottest podcasts out! Friday, before Minnie Fresh and Juvenile performed they were interviewed by N.O.R.E and DJ EFN for “Drink Champs” to chop it up and celebrate the 25th anniversary of 400 Degreez. Saturday Yung Miami did a first-time “Caresha Please” interview with Ari Fletcher and the line was so long for the taping that they had to open an overflow section in a separate building. Jason Lee also interviewed Brittany Renner. I’m 1000% a musichead so I spent all my time outside listening to performers but next year I plan on trying to attend some of the networking opportunities. 

THE VENUE: Nice and cozy (not a lot of walking required) but still room to spread out. The area in front of the main stage was a grassy hill so it gave stadium seating and they provided yoga mats to keep people’s clothes dry which was a nice touch!

HIGHLIGHT: Seeing Uncle Luke live and the R&B day party on Saturday. 

LOWLIGHT: $50 parking but it was super close.
